Solange Gomes

Solange Gomes has been working in the hotel for three years and has good experience in the hotel business from her time at Hotel Tijuco. She started work as a receptionist, and soon she had gained experience with the management department. She now works as Reception Chief. Solange also invested in courses and foreign languages such as English, in order to benefit her work.

She likes the area a lot and particularly enjoys being involved with the development and conservation of Diamantina. Solange is a very captivating person, always smiling and ready to help.

Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
Hotel Tijuco donates lost and found articles after three months when the owners don't request them back. The donations go to "Pão de Santo Antônio" and "Frederico Ozanan" Asylums and help the elderly that live there.

We also have a good relation with the Universidade Federal do Vale do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri (UFVJM), and we try to include them in some important actions that impact on Diamantina's sustainability directly. For instance, the hotel gathers kitchen oil and passes it to the University, since it is and energy source and can be reutilized there. The hotel Manager affirms that after they started this procedure, they never had any obstruction problems in the sink again!

Moreover, we try to promote tourism in the city and the cultural patrimony that is Diamantina's history, by keeping the Hotels history alive.
