Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
Pousada Caminho dos Escravos is part of an association in Diamantina called Adeltur. Besides promoting tourism in the region, this institution is also responsible for offering courtesies to local groups that present shows in Diamantina, such as "Arte Miúda", and groups that perform at "Festival de Inverno" (Winter Festival).

Environmentally, we gather all of the cans we use for recycling and donate old newspapers to a local person that collects them regularly. There is a solar energy system and a note in every bathroom informing the guest about the importance of saving water and energy, giving advice such as how you can save water by avoiding washing your towel daily.
